Moving from ny to california on ssi/medicaid....anyone on ssi who knows how this works? please help :)?

will my ssi switch over immediately....or do i file for it? i'm concerned about my medicaid...how long will that take? i need to get surgery....its all bad timing but nothing i can do about that.....
